Meet the ten most innovative startups in Brazil, according to KPMG

KPMG announces the ten Brazilian startups selected for the next national stage of the "Global Tech Innovator 2024" award. They are: Abstra; Biozer; Chemical Inovação; Huna; Lemon Energia; Luckie Tech; Orby; PBSF; SO+MA, and Stattus4.

They were chosen for being technology companies "ready to take innovations and businesses to new heights," KPMG stated in a release. This is the fourth edition of the award.

According to Diogo Garcia, managing partner and leader of the Tech Innovator Award in Brazil, the initiative shows that there are "excellent Brazilian startups whose businesses are not only innovative but can also be scaled globally."

"The selected startups come from different areas, ranging from startups that detect cancer early using Artificial Intelligence to companies addressing sensitive climate issues, combating water waste using AI and audio capture, and others working on the development of the bioeconomy in the Amazon," Garcia said in the same release.

KPMG also informed that the 10 selected startups will make a virtual presentation to a group of company judges on September 12. After this stage, five companies will be chosen for the final scheduled for September 18. On this occasion, they will pitch to the following external judges: Carolina Strobel (Antler), Eitan Blanche (Google), Pedro Waengertner (Ace Venture), Carol Paiffer (Atom), Paulo Alencastro (Unico Idtech), Sergio Rocha (Agrotools), Daniel Moura (Pix Force), and Luiz Pacete (Forbes).

The scores consider criteria such as disruption and innovation, market potential, customer adoption, traction and market marketing, long-term potential, and pitch quality.

A single startup will be chosen as the winner of the KPMG award and will represent Brazil in the grand global final during the Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal, from November 11 to 14.

On this occasion, representatives from all participating countries will present their growth plans to an international panel of judges. KPMG will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the Brazilian competitor.

"With innovation, resilience, and creativity, 10 startups have reached the final stretch of the national stage of the competition and will now aim for first place on the podium. The winners from each country will gain access to a global environment focused on scaling operations and achieving business success. They will join those already using innovative technologies and showing potential to reach a global scale," says Carolina de Oliveira, leader of Private Enterprise at KPMG in Brazil and South America, in a release.

In addition to the international competition, KPMG highlights that the winning companies from each country will be featured in the company's "Winners Report" and will have the opportunity to connect with renowned figures, industry experts, and global influencers in this market.
