A pioneering solution for remote care of high-risk newborns
A pioneering solution for remote care of high-risk newborns. With the purpose of revolutionizing the clinical and neurological assessment of high-risk newborns worldwide, making it more accessible, efficient, and accurate, we have incorporated the use of mixed reality technology with the help of HoloLens 2, brought to Brazil by Microsoft. The tool is part of the Digital Neonatal Neurological ICU (Neon ICU), a pioneering solution that provides remote assistance, cerebral monitoring application, data storage, result analysis, and early identification of brain dysfunctions in patients.
The device allows for neurological examination and immersive discussion of clinical cases in high-risk newborns, providing real-time patient information to the bedside doctor without the need for physical presence.
The device enables the care of newborns anywhere in the world with greater precision and agility, while also storing neurological exams in a system that serves as a foundation for evaluating other cases.
The device includes checklists, protocols, and forms, and provides access to supporting materials that serve as a guide for healthcare professionals in executing step-by-step procedures, including capturing images at each stage. The access control features and the possibility of integration with PBSF’s own system ensure even greater security and effectiveness. With remote assistance methods, operational activities are also directed by a highly specialized medical team, ensuring higher quality in their execution.
“There is a concept in neonatology that says ‘time is brain’ HoloLens 2 arrives to ensure that the treatment given to the patient is the ideal one for that case. In the case of perinatal asphyxia, for example, the bedside doctor empowers themselves and, based on the neurological examination and other information, determines whether the child needs therapeutic hypothermia or not. We cannot regenerate neurons, which is why time is extremely precious if we want a healthier clinical outcome for each child and their Family. Tha is our mission!” concludes the founder of PBSF.
